Every Thursday, September 8 – October 13, 7-8:30pm
Led by Shari Wilson, this is a workshop for writers who want to strengthen their craft as well as those who possess a compelling desire to tell great stories and are looking for a place to start. Over the course of six weeks, we will delve into the major elements of craft to strengthen writing skills. Through readings and discussion of modern short stories, writers will see each element at work. A workshop of this nature not only offers an opportunity to learn and practice new skills, but also a place where like-minded individuals feel safe and comfortable to share their work, give and receive feedback.
The cost of the six week workshop is $40 and includes a copy of Fiction Writers Workshop by Josip Novakovich.
As an English and History teacher, Shari Wilson has facilitated writer’s workshops in a small-group setting in both secondary and tertiary classrooms focusing on poetry, novels and short fiction. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science at Loyola University, Shari spent time writing freelance non-fiction for a travel blog before deciding to teach full-time. Currently, she is in the thesis phase of her Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in short fiction.
